'Recreation'
Series of 25 paper boats. Etchings and collagraphs on virgin woodpulp, handmade waterleaf - then soaked, pulped, moulded into boat shapes with found objects from Noosa Spit.
The fragile environment of Noosa Spit is disappearing into the wake of recreational boating. Trees topple, roots are laid bare. The land and the vegetation disappear into the water.
The prints are made from images of the Spit landscape and collagraphs from Spit vegetation. The boats incorporate dead and dying parts of Noosa Spit trees.
The work is a funeral procession
of small boats taking pieces of the landscape and it's vegetation out to sea for burial.
A sacrifice to 'recreation'.
That's how it is.
